SIOPSA has the following membership categories:
- Full members: Full members have at least a Master’s degree in Industrial or Organisational Psychology or an equivalent qualification and experience in the field which in the opinion of the Executive Committee qualifies them as such.
- Honorary members: The Executive Committee may invite persons to become honorary life members of the Society. Such persons have distinguished themselves by meritorious achievement or service in the sphere of Industrial or Organisational Psychology as a science and / or profession. Honorary members are discharged from liability for subscriptions.
- Fellows: Fellows are full members who have made an outstanding contribution to the science, practice or organisation of Psychology and shall be awarded this honour by the Executive Committee.
- Associate members: Associate members have at least an Honours degree or equivalent qualification in a branch of Psychology.
- Student members: Student members are registered students in Industrial and / or Organisational Psychology who do not qualify for any other category of membership.
- Affiliates: Affiliates are persons interested in Industrial or Organisational Psychology as a science and / or profession.
- Foreign Affiliates: Foreign Affiliates are persons living abroad who are members of an acknowledged foreign psychological society or association and / or who can produce proof of qualifications as required by the Executive Committee.
- Corporate members: An organisation which has an interest in Industrial or Organisational Psychology as a science and / or profession, may be granted corporate membership.
- Guest members: Anyone wanting to recieve email marketing, or attend an event. All delegates need to be 'registered' as a category to book, or go through processes on the website - this is free member
The highest qualification of an individual applying for membership will determine the membership category.
If you are registered with the HPCSA for Clinical, Counselling, Educational or Research Psychology (and your highest qualification is
not in Industrial or Organisational Psychology) Associate membership applies.
If Full membership is important an additional
application form can be completed. The person must be nominated by a Full member of SIOPSA and a short CV detailing experience in Industry must be submitted to the Executive for verification. The Executive can, based on qualifications, experience and working history, grant Full membership.
