Vodacom, Century City, Cape Town (Western Cape)
13th April 2010
SIOPSA Western Cape is excited to host Jeanne-Lu Bruwer, a consultant from Symphonia, speaking on the topic of “NeuroLeadership – New insights from neuroscience help leaders to lead with more impact”.
NeuroLeadership is a relatively new field that is dedicated to and focuses on the processes within the brain which underlies and influence human performance, decisions, relationships and interactions in our daily working and personal lives. It is an interdisciplinary field that draws learnings from the fields of social cognitive and effective neuroscience, cognitive neuroscience, integrative neuroscience neurobiology and other domains within neuroscience. The aim is to effectively bring about the interface between the tools of these fields and leadership and management theories of questions in such a way that leadership effectiveness within organizations are improved.
NeuroLeadership help leaders to develop a deeper level of understanding of their daily actions, behaviours and interactions with others. The four domains of the field; decision making & problem solving, emotion regulation, collaborating with others and facilitating change, link directly with the daily challenges that leaders need to face and successfully manage. It provides a framework from which one can modify your behaviours and learn how to improve your relationship with peers and colleagues. Integrating findings from the latest research with our daily lives helps leaders to improve their own thinking and performance. In addition to this leaders also learn how to influence and collaborate with others in a more effective way. This ultimately contributes to the development of the individual; the team and the organisation in such a way that employees develop their thinking capability and in due course performance are increased.
The latest findings of the field provide evidence for leadership theories that have been practiced for many years. The scientific based evidence and data supports leaders in their practices in such a way that the physiological working of the brain is understood, behaviours are explained and buy-in is achieved easier. Practical tools and techniques are understood and when strategies are implemented in our working environment employees tend to become more engaged, time is saved, performance levels increase and relationships improved. This ultimately leads to increased performance of the organisation as a whole.
