Dear Conference Delegate,
From the Chairperson’s and organising committee’s desk a word of thanks to all of you who attended, participated and shared in the excitement of the Southern Hemisphere Congress. We really belief the stage has been set globally for us to add tremendous value to the discipline, as well as making a contribution towards the growth and sustainability status of our coaching clients.
This has been a rich and meaningful experience and we are privileged to play our part in the process of making the guiding global vision around Coaching Psychology a reality. We have seen the value of conversation and reflection in our social interaction and are looking forward to leverage the networks that are so crucial in taking our profession forward. Peter Zarris referred to the first ICCP event in London (December 2010) as the birth of Coaching Psychology internationally and stated that South Africa (May 2011) was its ‘coming of age’. This is indeed something that we can be proud of as South African citizens. During the event, both SIOPSA and the Interest Group have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Society of Coaching Psychology acknowledging a desire to communicate, and work together in support of the development of the Coaching Psychology profession in South Africa and internationally.
The Interest Group in Coaching and Consulting Psychology) will be taking up to challenge to further grow and develop the Coaching Psychology discipline in South Africa and of course we will start to engage our colleagues in the rest of Africa as well! This is a great challenge and privilege for us and we belief that through enabling the communities in Coaching Psychology in the region, we will start to make a difference towards creating a better life for all.
All the best to all our International Congress Steering Committee Members for the events that will follow during the remainder of 2011 and 2012. We wish you the greatest success for your events.
If you are interested to be actively involved in the steering and guiding of the interest group, please contact Anna-Rosa le Roux directly. anna-rosa@jvrafrica.co.za
