EXECUTIVE COACHING APPROACH

Adrian is the founder/owner of ODCOACH. Adrian’s coaching is psychologically informed with theory and evidence-based practice. He uses an eclectic (multidisciplinary, systems, integral and systemic) approach underpinned by psychology. He enjoys working with executives (managers/leaders) and their team(s) and values understanding the client’s context, organisational landscape, and group dynamics so that coaching on the axis/boundary becomes possible by holding the duality of the client in mind. The coach-client-sponsor relationship is key for impactful business outcomes premised on collaboration & authentic relationships.

EXECUTIVE COACHING EXPERIENCE

Adrian has more than 20 years of combined work experience in the defence, public and private sectors.  He has held various senior management and support roles. Adrian thrives in group coaching – whether it’s change; leadership development; diversity & change transitions. He has worked with leaders & managers from all levels and his most treasured executive coaching experience was with a regional executive team in a large corporate for more than five years. His coaching also extended to their direct reports with customised organisational development; change management & enablement; leadership and team development coaching interventions.

“I have witnessed managers and leaders achieve success against insurmountable challenges by shifting their own thinking, courage and willingness to journey with a trusted thinking partner”. He has been particularly successful in helping leaders and their teams navigate change.

EDUCATION

Adrian is a registered Psychologist (Industrial) with the HPCSA and holds certification in integral coaching. He is also a trained/informed coach-consultant in systems psychodynamics. He is a full member of SIOPSA; its interest groups in Coaching and Consulting Psychology (IGCCP) and Systems Psychodynamics of SA (IGSPO), and member of COMENSA.   He regularly attends seminars and conferences for continuous professional development.

I am a registered Industrial / Organisational Psychologist and registered coach, and have run my own practice in the Southern suburbs of Cape Town for the past 12 years.  I completed a BA undergraduate degree at UCT and then completed my Honours and Masters’ degrees (in Industrial / Organisational Psychology) at the University of Stellenbosch.  My thesis involved the workings of call centres and their propensity for burnout; my board exam was passed with distinction.

I completed a Coaching Diploma at The Coaching Centre (associated with the Middlesex University, UK) in August 2017 and have found great satisfaction using career and life coaching to assist my clients in moving towards their desired career and personal goals.

I have worked in industry both corporate and small business, namely Standard Bank, Masterskill Training (a division of the Softline Group) and an international training company, Achieve Global.

During this time, I worked in the capacities of project management, research, training and completed the CAIB(SA) certificate in banking, where I received the top result in the country for my paper on human resource management.

I am trained in a variety of psychometric testing and keep up to date with counselling trends, mindfulness, ethics in the workplace etc. to enable my continuing professional development.

My current focus centres around working with careers and business challenges for learners, students as well as those struggling with the transitions accompanying quarter-life and mid-life changes, or challenging life shifts.

My approach is holistic, ensuring that my clients develop a clearer understanding of themselves, which is pivotal to their forward movement.  I use a variety of modalities, including counselling, coaching, consulting as well as offering guidance, in need.

My new website www.annwerner.com details my approach to my work and includes both articles as a contributor as well as my own blog.  An alternate website is www.careercreations.co.za, an earlier website from my start up days, but has always proved too valuable not to keep live!

I am also profiled on LinkedIn as well as the Therapist and Coaching Directory.

I have been practising as a registered organisational psychologist for over twenty-five years. I coach individuals and groups across executive, life and personal domains in the corporate, NGO and educational sectors.   My training as a psychologist is my departure point and I work at the interface between psychology and the workplace to explore questions around work and life purpose, relationships and career.

I have completed a doctorate in narrative psychology and I am trained in narrative therapy.  My coaching is therefore informed by these ideas and practices. I believe coaching needs to facilitate the personal transition and forward movement in ways that are congruent with the beliefs and values that clients hold dear.  Once clients feel sufficiently in touch with their own belief systems, we work together to explore the meaning they attach to working life, relationships, organisations and wider society.  This strengthened self-awareness helps clients to access their personal stories and identify ways of being that no longer serve them.  Clients are then ready to release old stories and to craft fresh, expansive stories that reshape and transform their lives.

My experience as a conflict mediator and part-time commissioner at the Commission for Conciliation Mediation and Arbitration feeds into my coaching work – as clients frequently face conflict-related challenges in their work and personal lives.  I also offer supervision to coaches and teach in the field of coaching psychology on the Organisational Psychology Masters Programme at the University of Cape Town.  For more information, please visit my website www.pricelinda.com.

Neville is a certified Tavistock executive coach and has worked with leaders at various levels in a variety of organisations and industries from aviation to banking, as well as healthcare, retail, finance and manufacturing. While his approach to coaching is eclectic and based on the needs of each client, he favours what is called the systems psychodynamic approach to coaching which essentially means working with the entire system and working below the surface. He works with his clients to understand the role they play in their organisations and the dynamic interplay between the client, their role and the organisation in which they work, at both an obvious and a deeper, hidden level. The purpose is to forge new meanings and understandings and achieve greater clarity about the client him or herself, their work role and the organisation. He likes to think of himself as a thinking partner to his clients. His focus in coaching is on helping leaders achieve their potential in a real and authentic way. His special interest is in assisting leaders with career shifts and transitions (moving into, up, through and possibly even out of an organisation). Neville’s training and experience as an industrial/organisational psychologist in global corporates and specifically his experience as an executive coach have equipped him to work with senior management and leadership in enhancing their work and personal performance by helping them build their personal and organisational capabilities, creating meaning and purpose in their work and non work lives and ultimately, adding value to the organisations they serve.

Area/ type of coaching being practised:

  • Executive Coach

I am a Consulting Psychologist and a coach in private practice. My life purpose is to enable personal growth, interpersonal relationships and opportunity thinking. I believe that well-being, relationships and ongoing self-development enable performance.

I have 19 years of generalist HR experience and 17 years of Organisational Development (OD) experience including strategy work, culture- and leadership development, conflict management, change management and managing diversity. I have over 4200 hours’ coaching experience.  Industries include financial services, IT, tertiary institutions, manufacturing, communication, mining, retail, government agencies and healthcare.

I have a D Com (Consulting Psychology), M Com (Industrial Psychology) and I did several short courses in coaching through UNISA, The People Business, SIOPSA, The Village Consulting and Center for Creative Leadership.  I am registered as a psychologist at the HPCSA and I am a full member of SIOPSA, COMENSA and the Worldwide Association of Business Coaches.  I am a Board Certified Coach with the Center for Credentialing and Education, USA.

My coaching approach draws on Existentialism and Systems Psychodynamics. I become my clients’ thinking partner – providing feedback, supporting, challenging, asking thought-provoking questions, scenario planning, brainstorming, and developing different perspectives on an issue. This results in greater self-awareness, opportunity thinking and improved decisions.

My coaching model integrates the five life domains described by Gosling and Minzberg (Harvard
Business Review, November 2003) as The Five Minds of a Manager: Self, Relationships, Work, Context, and Change. Coaching specialities include leadership, strategic alignment, transitions, change leadership, emotional intelligence, and self-actualisation. I also do coaching supervision.

I make use of psychometric assessments if it is required, e.g. EQi2.0 (emotional intelligence), MBTI Step II (personality type), Enneagram (what drives motivation) and the Career Anchors. 360° measures of leadership competence are also very useful, whether bespoke (qualitative) or a quantitative instrument such as LBI-2.

  • Coaching with the Enneagram

I am a registered industrial psychologist and certified executive coach with 20 years’ OD and 12 years’ coaching experience, working with individuals and teams within a leadership development context.

My Coaching Qualifications include Executive Coaching for Psychologists, Consciousness Coaching Diploma, Systems Psychodynamics Coaching, international certifications in Analytic-Network Coaching and Coaching with the Enneagram, and various international masterclasses at coaching-psychology conferences (Edinburgh, San Diego).

My Coaching Philosophy is such that I view human beings as meaning-making, sense-making, truth-seeking individuals. Through coaching, we are heard, acknowledged, and validated – and we, therefore, become present to and embody our resonant values, beliefs, and ultimately, our unique Truths.

My Coaching Methodology ensures the establishing of a co-creative space that recognises and resonates with the client’s way of seeing and being – with their Truth. The broader aim is to achieve self-leadership mastery and personal wellbeing. The key objectives are to achieve self- and social awareness, and to build insights and agility to regulate and manage our intra/interpersonal experiences. Through my research and applied practice, I continually find evidence that articulating our unexpressed intentions and roles empowers the client to be conscious, to be congruent, and to model being an authentic and resonant leader, both in their work and life contexts.

My Coaching Approach acknowledges the organisational system and encompasses ontological and depth coaching – this is explored via neuroscience, systems psychodynamics, the enneagram, mindfulness, narrative and positive psychology methods and models. I provide a practical approach that supports the client to recognise and resonate with (‘get’) how their thinking, feelings, and behaviours impact their world. The previously hidden relational dynamics with others emerge and are now made explicit.

I am a member of the following Professional Associations: HPCSA-registered psychologist, COMENSA, ISCP, and SIOPSA. I am active on professional-association executive committees – past SIOPSA Exco and IGCCP Chair, currently on SIOPSA’s IGCCP Exco.

As a practitioner, I enjoy working with individuals, with organisational coaching panels, conducting research, continual learning, and teaching. I have published a research chapter in a scientific peer-reviewed coaching-psychology book. I also present my research and have been a panellist at local and international conferences, and I facilitate coach-training workshops for psychology professionals who coach. My coaching clients include private and professional individuals, and middle- to executive leader-managers and teams.

The following DISCLAIMER applies to this list: “Inclusion on this list is based on a self-declaration of competence. The IGCCP SA or SIOPSA do not take responsibility for the conduct or competence of practitioners.
