A large part of Steve’s career has been in working with executives and executive teams in the areas of facilitation of strategy formulation\, team integration and executive coaching. While Steve has worked across most sectors of the economy\, he has tended to gravitate to the financial services sector. \n \nJP Van Zittert \nJP van Zittert is a task and goal driven individual enthusiastic about life and people. As a dual registered HPCSA (SA) and BPS (UK) chartered Industrial Psychologist and SARA (SA) Registered Reward Specialist he has experience working in various sectors in the successful implementation of HC interventions. JP was selected in the top 5 most talented young professional under 40 in the financial services sector in 2022 and is a member of Mensa and the Golden Key Society. JP van Zittert has an extensive background in participating in various panel discussions\, conferences\, and presentations. His conference presentations have covered topics such as mental health\, succession management\, remuneration and benefits\, and employee wellness. In various publications\, JP has shared his insights on work-from-home practices\, industrial psychology\, organizational development\, and dual-earner parents' wellbeing. Throughout various projects\, JP gained extensive experience in operational efficiency\, technology implementation\, leadership development\, performance management\, and strategic change management. JP’s expertise in designing and implementing psychometric processes\, managing regional psychometric departments\, and applying industrial psychology principles to safety practices has grown considerably. Working in diverse industries and complex projects has honed JP’s research\, analysis\, stakeholder liaison\, and project management skills. She has supervised several students in primarily qualitative research projects to successful completion of their masters’ and doctoral degrees.She is a registered clinical psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa. She has been involved in consultancy through a psychodynamic frame since 1995. She was actively part of the management and development of the Institute for the Study of Leadership and Authority (ISLA) in South Africa. Michelle received extensive training in the field of group consultation\, under which from ISLA and the Tavistock Institute (UK)\, and consulted in various programs of this nature – nationally and internationally. She has consulted to international Group Relations Conferences in Boston\, Chicago and New York (AK Rice Institute)\, Netherlands and the Leicester Conference (Tavistock Institute\, UK; 2016 and 2017). She has been part of the team who has designed and planned the Robben Island diversity experience (RIDE) and has taken up the role of director\, director of the training group and associate director from 2000 until 2014. Inette provides psychotherapy\, company assessments\, coaching\, neurofeedback and other psychological services for companies\, individual clients\, work teams\, and couples. \n\nDr Neville Goldin\n\nNeville is a certified Tavistock executive coach\, specializing in the systems psychodynamic method of coaching. Neville’s focus in coaching is on helping leaders achieve their potential in a real and authentic way and his special interest is in assisting leaders with career shifts and transitions (moving into\, up and through an organisation). \nWhile Neville’s approach to executive coaching is eclectic and based on the needs of each client\, he favours what is called the systems psychodynamic approach to coaching which essentially means working with the entire system and working below the surface. We try to understand the role the person plays in the organisation and the dynamic interplay between the individual leader or manager\, his/her role and the organizational context in which they work\, at both an obvious and a hidden level. The purpose is to forge new meanings and understandings and achieve greater clarity about oneself\, one’s work and the organisation. This new understanding\, if applied and practised\, translates into more authentic interactions and greater effectiveness in one’s role\, benefitting both the individual and the organisation. \n\nProf. Frans Cilliers\n\nWith a long history in academia and writing\, Prof. Cilliers is currently an Emeritus Professor at UNISA\, where he continues to teach and mentor postgraduate students at the master's and doctoral levels. He gives lectures at other South African universities as well. The Interest Group on Systems Psychodynamics of Organisations was founded by Prof. Cilliers. In addition\, he belongs to and is associated with a number of international organisations. \n

DESCRIPTION:Interest Group System Psychodynamics of Organisations presents... \nWorking With What Lies Beneath the System \nThis four-hour workshop introduces systems psychodynamics as a way of understanding what is happening beneath the surface in organisations – in individuals\, teams and across the wider system. \nWe begin with an overview of systems psychodynamics: what it is\, where it comes from\, and how it adds value to organisational work. We will look at how systems thinking helps us notice the links between the macro (organisation and context)\, meso (teams and departments) and micro (individuals)\, and how these levels are interdependent. Core system ideas such as openness\, purposefulness\, multidimensionality\, emergent behaviour and counterintuitive outcomes will be introduced in clear\, practical language. \nWe then connect this with psychodynamic thinking – the idea that not all behaviour is driven by conscious\, rational decision-making. Using the iceberg as an overall image\, we explore what sits above the surface (what people say and know) and what may be below the surface (unconscious thoughts\, feelings and patterns)\, including how anxiety and psychological defences may shape behaviour at work. \nThe workshop then introduces key interpretive models used in systems psychodynamic work. The focus of her PhD was what transformation looks like in a system above and below the surface\, uncovering the concept of transmogrification in systems. Dr Tonelli supervises Industrial and Organisational Psychology interns\, masters and doctoral students. \n\nProf Aden-Paul Flotman \n\nProf Aden-Paul Flotman is an Industrial Psychologist and Associate Professor in the Department of Industrial and Organisational Psychology at the University of South Africa. His lecturing responsibilities include Change Dynamics\, Organisational Development and Coaching Psychology. Aden-Paul has a keen interest in exploring inter-cultural dynamics from a systems psychodynamic stance\, somatic intelligence\, and emotional toxicity in organisations. The focus (thesis) of his PhD was “language use as manifestation of leadership anxiety dynamics”. He serves on the Editorial Boards of African Journal of Employee Relations and Frontiers in Psychology. Aden-Paul supervises interns as well as master’s and doctoral students. \n\nDr Inette Anne Taylor \n\nDr Inette Anne Taylor completed a Masters’ thesis on Schizophrenic language at the former Rand Afrikaans University (now UJ) in 1984\, registered as a Counselling Psychologist in 1985\, and completed a PhD program at the University of the Orange Free State in 2001. In 2013 she graduated from UNISA with a BA Visual Arts degree and in 2018she became a BCIA accredited Neurofeedback provider.Over her career she attended a vast number of professional training and accreditation courses in trauma intervention\, hypnotherapy\, psychological assessment techniques\, psychotherapeutic interventions\, couple counselling\, neuropsychological assessment training\, BWRT and others. She presented/co-presented on numerous occasions at psychological societies in South Africa and worked as Consultant in several Group Relations events (in-person and online since 2019). She has provided psychological services as an HPCSA accredited CPD provider in various capacities. Inette provides psychotherapy\, company assessments\, coaching\, neurofeedback and other psychological services for companies\, individual clients\, work teams\, and couples. \n\nProfessor Michelle S. May\n\nProf Michelle S. May is a professor at the department of Industrial and Organisational Psychology at the University of South Africa (UNISA). She is the manager of the Consulting Psychology Doctoral Programme (IOP\, UNISA). She is the co-ordinator of the research focus areas Systems psychodynamics and Socio–analytic Methods (IOP\, UNISA). She has supervised several students in primarily qualitative research projects to successful completion of their masters’ and doctoral degrees.She is a registered clinical psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa. She has been involved in consultancy through a psychodynamic frame since 1995. She was actively part of the management and development of the Institute for the Study of Leadership and Authority (ISLA) in South Africa. Michelle received extensive training in the field of group consultation\, under which from ISLA and the Tavistock Institute (UK)\, and consulted in various programs of this nature – nationally and internationally. She has consulted to international Group Relations Conferences in Boston\, Chicago and New York (AK Rice Institute)\, Netherlands and the Leicester Conference (Tavistock Institute\, UK; 2016 and 2017). She has been part of the team who has designed and planned the Robben Island diversity experience (RIDE) and has taken up the role of director\, director of the training group and associate director from 2000 until 2014.
