Partnership between the Society for Industrial and Organisational Psychology of South Africa (SIOPSA) and the Institute of People Management (IPM).

Gauteng, Johannesburg (November 11, 2020) – The Society for Industrial and Organisational Psychology of South Africa (SIOPSA) and The Institute of People Management (IPM) have signed a partnership agreement aimed at the development and enhancement of a humane and progressive workplace and worker experience by all workers in South Africa.

SIOPSA is a member-based, non-profit organisation established to enhance the Industrial and Organisational Psychology profession in South Africa. It promotes the benefits of I-O Psychology as a profession and contributes toward the development of fair and humane work environment. As a recognised  accreditor for professional development through the Health professions council of SA, they provide continuous development as well as thought leadership on the psychology of work and furthermore create conditions in which I-O psychologist may delivery efficient and effective services to the benefit of all.

The Institute of People Management is a professional membership body representing Human Resource and People Management fraternity. IPM is a not-for-profit, independent body with official professional recognition from the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). IPM dedicate their efforts to providing knowledge and tools for strategic and operational people management and development that contribute to growth, profitability and sustainability of businesses.  The IPM values are member-centricity, integrity, and advocacy.

SIOPSA and IPM share a common purpose and hold similar values and operate in different yet complimentary contexts. We are excited about the opportunity this partnership presents for both the members of the organisations and industry at large. It is anticipated that the opportunity this partnership presents will allow both organisations to learn from one another and offer its member base more opportunities. In partnership both organisations have a stronger potential influence over the promotion of common interest; and believe that, together, the organisations can offer their members an enriched experience and professional platform to engage on efforts to improve people practices across different industries.

Dr Natasha Winkler-Titus, President of SIOPSA 2020/21; Mrs Sylvia Mamorare Vice-President of IPM and Dr Jerry Gule, CEO of IPM
