The unique value add of the IOP as Business Coach

Background of topic:

In the very competitive field of Business Coaching, the IOP (Industrial & Organisational Psychologist) has a distinctive advantage in adding value to the business. In the session, we will explore how to differentiate between business coaching and other forms of coaching such as executive coaching and life coaching, illustrating this by means of a holistic framework of coaching. A working definition of business coaching will be suggested which could serve as a point of departure to inform the way IOP’s can position themselves in this arena. This includes clarifying the unique value-add of IOP in this space, as well as articulating specific insights of the business context as related to the IOP skill set, trends in the field of business coaching, and opportunities and challenges in the dynamic and growing field.

The presenters are all practitioners with years of experience who on a day to day level function as a business coach and doing so by being well anchored by their professions and training as psychologists: Stefan Botes; Lizeth Janse Van Vuuren, Gail Wrogemann

Why should you attend?

The emphasis and key take away from the session include a clear set of success criteria that are powerful as strategic hooks with which to engage potential clients and deliver a world-class offering as a business coach. The session’s focus will be on progressive approaches in the field. Topics such as team, systems and strategic coaching will be covered, as well as how to effectively embrace the 4th wave business solutions. VUCA (Volatile, Unpredictable, Complexity and Agility) is often suggested as the best way to describe what is happing in the world of business today. This, by definition, applies to the business of business coaching. The aim of this session is thus to enable IOPs to thrive in this specialised field. Leaving the session with clear ways on how to stay ahead of the pack and lead rather than follow.

Who should attend?

Open to those interested in understanding more about the field of business coaching. We will work from the assumption that the participants have mastered the fundamentals of coaching.
