Professor Fons van de Vijver

It is with great sadness that SIOPSA announces that Professor Fons van de Vijver, professor (em.) in cross-cultural psychology at Tilburg University (Netherlands), and an extraordinary chair at North-West University and the University of Queensland (Australia), has passed away on Saturday, 1 June 2019. Professor van de Vijver has made a tremendous contribution to the field of cross-cultural psychology, being one of the most frequently cited authors in this field and having (co-) authored about 600 publications. He also provided leadership and guidance in this field as well as in the field of psychological assessment by serving numerous European and International Associations. He has received Dutch and international prizes for his work.

He was planned to be the closing keynote speaker at the 21^st annual SIOPSA conference in July 2019. Professor Fons van de Vijver will be sadly missed by the SIOPSA community and we offer our heartfelt condolences to his family.
