Job Description

The Department of Industrial Psychology and People Management, situated in the College of Business and Economics, School of Management is an award-winning Department that has a comprehensive offering at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, both in traditional university qualifications and professional development qualifications. Our comprehensive offering comprises of two major programmes: Industrial Psychology; and Human Resource Management (HRM), a Centre of Work Performance, and a strong Continuous Education division. All our postgraduate programmes have a strong research component. Our aim is to develop outstanding People Professionals, up to the critical leadership task of making their organisations and people future fit as they move into a radically different future.
Job Description:
An Associate professor with behavioural science as an academic underpinning, both at undergrade and postgraduate level. The person must be able to carry out duties to promote and lead undergraduate and postgraduate programmes to be globally recognised as pioneers in the field of Industrial Psychology and Human Resources Management and create a visible, unique, academic footprint, especially in Africa.
We are a team of self-directed, creative, dedicated professionals who keep pushing the frontiers of knowledge. If you have a passion for research and teaching Industrial Psychology and Human Resource Management, this department may be the place for you.
We are particularly interested in applicants with specialist research and teaching interests in quantitative research methods, career psychology, and industrial psychology (in general).
If you join our department, you will:
  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate students, and learners from our client organisations
  • Lecturing face-to-face and ONLINE in related modules at undergraduate and postgraduate level
  • Supervising postgraduate student research in various areas of Industrial Psychology and Human Resources Management, steering research to enable economic and social upliftment to the greater good of the South African population
  • Conduct and publish your own research within a research focus area of your professional interest
  • Presenting research at national and international conferences
  • Academic leadership in the coordination of the various qualifications in the Department
  • Participating in internal and external service rending and social impact programmes and activities and interventions relating to leadership
  • Serving on internal department, school, college university committees
  • Engaging in activities that will promote global department excellence and stature
  • Forge and maintain external professional networks

Job Description



Behaviour Scientist Role

You would be employed as a Behavioural Scientist.

Primary duties will include the following:

  • All aspects of behavioural science and product/technology development/enhancements
  • Driving awareness and raising the profile of the company to generate high-quality multiple leads, including partnership opportunities and convert these into business
  • Helping achieve sales revenue growth, including cross-selling and maximising client revenue potential for all three products
  • Driving business development and direct sales in multiple sectors around the world and indirect sales globally through partners and resellers, including writing bid proposals and conducting sales presentations, as well as end-to-end corporate account and partner/resellers management
  • Analysing, interpreting and presenting analytics and insights reports (all three products), as well as providing predictive analytics, actionable insights and a road map, including narratives
  • Presenting key findings to clients including results/insights interpretation (all three products) and leading intervention design/planning workshops
  • The delivery of CultureScope/TalentScope Certification training programmes and any additional training required by clients & Partners
  • The end-to-end responsibility for delivering the TeamScope program.

Experience and Qualifications


  • Experience working with clients and managing stakeholders at various levels including senior stakeholders
  • Experience translating technical/statistical concepts into simple narratives
  • Experience conducting quantitative research with multi-outcome data
  • Experience with questionnaire/ psychometric design and validation
  • Master’s degree in Occupational Psychology/ Behaviour Science or related field


  • Experience working in an entrepreneurial environment driving business development and sales
  • PhD in Occupational Psychology or Behaviour Science

Flexible working

This role is a hybrid role, where you will be permitted to work remotely, although you may be required to work from the office and/or attend meetings at client’s sites as needed.
