TYPE OF COACHING PRACTISED:
I thrive on empowering others and assisting them to reach their goals, overcome obstacles in their work or personal lives and to inspire different perspectives to allow for greater forward movement.
My work is holistic, believing that one’s work or career cannot be viewed in a linear fashion, but needs to be considered in the greater milieu of life stages, the market place, current environment and internal thoughts and beliefs.
Hence the development desired by my clients allows for a robust transition – a wholehearted movement from one place to a better other. I have found that this fuller approach, involving a deeper understanding of self and individual responses to their environment, allows for increased sustainability of the desired changes.
I am a registered organisational psychologist, having run my own practice in Cape Town for the past 15 years. I keep relevant regarding work trends and approaches and am able to offer psychometric assessments in need.
I work with private individuals, small businesses and corporations, either counselling, consulting, coaching or providing talks and workshops, where my role is to challenge and act as a thinking partner, while fully integrated with the process.
My clients include employees from various sectors: financial, retail, academia, medical, media, recreation and entertainment, NGO’s as well as secondary and tertiary educational institutions.
I am an active member of the registered professional bodies for psychology and coaching.

PERSONAL QUOTE
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. … There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. … And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.” – Marianne Williamson.

Neville is a certified Tavistock executive coach and has worked with leaders at various levels in a variety of organisations and industries from aviation to banking, as well as healthcare, retail, finance and manufacturing. While his approach to coaching is eclectic and based on the needs of each client, he favours what is called the systems psychodynamic approach to coaching which essentially means working with the entire system and working below the surface. He works with his clients to understand the role they play in their organisations and the dynamic interplay between the client, their role and the organisation in which they work, at both an obvious and a deeper, hidden level. The purpose is to forge new meanings and understandings and achieve greater clarity about the client him or herself, their work role and the organisation. He likes to think of himself as a thinking partner to his clients. His focus in coaching is on helping leaders achieve their potential in a real and authentic way. His special interest is in assisting leaders with career shifts and transitions (moving into, up, through and possibly even out of an organisation). Neville’s training and experience as an industrial/organisational psychologist in global corporates and specifically his experience as an executive coach have equipped him to work with senior management and leadership in enhancing their work and personal performance by helping them build their personal and organisational capabilities, creating meaning and purpose in their work and non work lives and ultimately, adding value to the organisations they serve.
Area/ type of coaching being practised:
I am a Consulting Psychologist and a coach in private practice. My life purpose is to enable personal growth, interpersonal relationships and opportunity thinking. I believe that well-being, relationships and ongoing self-development enable performance.
I have 19 years of generalist HR experience and 17 years of Organisational Development (OD) experience including strategy work, culture- and leadership development, conflict management, change management and managing diversity. I have over 4200 hours’ coaching experience. Industries include financial services, IT, tertiary institutions, manufacturing, communication, mining, retail, government agencies and healthcare.
I have a D Com (Consulting Psychology), M Com (Industrial Psychology) and I did several short courses in coaching through UNISA, The People Business, SIOPSA, The Village Consulting and Center for Creative Leadership. I am registered as a psychologist at the HPCSA and I am a full member of SIOPSA, COMENSA and the Worldwide Association of Business Coaches. I am a Board Certified Coach with the Center for Credentialing and Education, USA.
My coaching approach draws on Existentialism and Systems Psychodynamics. I become my clients’ thinking partner – providing feedback, supporting, challenging, asking thought-provoking questions, scenario planning, brainstorming, and developing different perspectives on an issue. This results in greater self-awareness, opportunity thinking and improved decisions.
My coaching model integrates the five life domains described by Gosling and Minzberg (Harvard
Business Review, November 2003) as The Five Minds of a Manager: Self, Relationships, Work, Context, and Change. Coaching specialities include leadership, strategic alignment, transitions, change leadership, emotional intelligence, and self-actualisation. I also do coaching supervision.
I make use of psychometric assessments if it is required, e.g. EQi2.0 (emotional intelligence), MBTI Step II (personality type), Enneagram (what drives motivation) and the Career Anchors. 360° measures of leadership competence are also very useful, whether bespoke (qualitative) or a quantitative instrument such as LBI-2.

My 18 years of coaching (and mentoring) experience is in both work and life contexts. I use the principles of integral and ontological coaching, grounded in the behavioural sciences to reframe your Way of Being. The key purpose is to evoke deep change and unleashing the potential in my clients. Through engaging in courageous conversations, observations and practices, I enable my clients to embark on a journey of self-discovery and co-creating meaning of their career and life involving others. The practices which are designed are the key to the application of sustainable mechanisms used for personal, team and organisational effectiveness. My coaching clients have ranged from students, professionals, teams, leaders, executives and board members.
My Specialist Business Experience & Interest is in the following areas: Leadership Development, Organisational Development & Effectiveness, Executive Strategy & Talent Management, Behavioural & Social Economics.
As a life-long student and teacher, I have developed and imparted strengths in Strategic Alignment with Human Capital Development and Talent, Decision-making and Judgment, Group Dynamics, Building Relationships and Networking, Resolving Conflict and Valuing Differences in Others, Effective Communication and Listening, Planning and Organising, Business Acumen and Entrepreneurship and Work-life balance in Executives and CEOs
I am a registered industrial psychologist and certified executive coach with 20 years’ OD and 12 years’ coaching experience, working with individuals and teams within a leadership development context.
My Coaching Qualifications include Executive Coaching for Psychologists, Consciousness Coaching Diploma, Systems Psychodynamics Coaching, international certifications in Analytic-Network Coaching and Coaching with the Enneagram, and various international masterclasses at coaching-psychology conferences (Edinburgh, San Diego).
My Coaching Philosophy is such that I view human beings as meaning-making, sense-making, truth-seeking individuals. Through coaching, we are heard, acknowledged, and validated – and we, therefore, become present to and embody our resonant values, beliefs, and ultimately, our unique Truths.
My Coaching Methodology ensures the establishing of a co-creative space that recognises and resonates with the client’s way of seeing and being – with their Truth. The broader aim is to achieve self-leadership mastery and personal wellbeing. The key objectives are to achieve self- and social awareness, and to build insights and agility to regulate and manage our intra/interpersonal experiences. Through my research and applied practice, I continually find evidence that articulating our unexpressed intentions and roles empowers the client to be conscious, to be congruent, and to model being an authentic and resonant leader, both in their work and life contexts.
My Coaching Approach acknowledges the organisational system and encompasses ontological and depth coaching – this is explored via neuroscience, systems psychodynamics, the enneagram, mindfulness, narrative and positive psychology methods and models. I provide a practical approach that supports the client to recognise and resonate with (‘get’) how their thinking, feelings, and behaviours impact their world. The previously hidden relational dynamics with others emerge and are now made explicit.
I am a member of the following Professional Associations: HPCSA-registered psychologist, COMENSA, ISCP, and SIOPSA. I am active on professional-association executive committees – past SIOPSA Exco and IGCCP Chair, currently on SIOPSA’s IGCCP Exco.
As a practitioner, I enjoy working with individuals, with organisational coaching panels, conducting research, continual learning, and teaching. I have published a research chapter in a scientific peer-reviewed coaching-psychology book. I also present my research and have been a panellist at local and international conferences, and I facilitate coach-training workshops for psychology professionals who coach. My coaching clients include private and professional individuals, and middle- to executive leader-managers and teams.

Navigating the complexities of life and work decisions can feel like a balancing act on a shifting tightrope. Yet, through the art of coaching, we can uncover the clarity, independence, and insight to achieve our personal and professional goals.
To me, coaching is the engagement and partnership between two committed individuals, aimed at finding the autonomy, empowerment, and discernment to make multifaceted decisions and hence, whether work or life-related, a holistic outlook is imperative for aligned decision-making.
Coaching helps manage this complexity, preventing feelings of fragmentation, but rather, guiding us through daunting challenges.
As a coach and registered psychologist, I hold space for shifting aspects, creation, and relations to allow greater understanding of our outer and inner worlds. My systemic process empowers deeper insights into these inter-relationships, fostering well-informed and impactful choices.
Entering a coaching partnership opens oneself to the vagaries of our unique beings, potentially unearthing 'old stuff,' finding profound insights, and discovering new ways to channel energy. Probing the status quo can quickly reveal our authentic selves, enabling us to let go of habits that no longer serve us and pursue paths that truly align with our values and aspirations.
In my coaching experience, I've helped businesswomen strategize promotion plans, assisted businessmen in finding their ideal niches or leaving toxic environments, and supported HR and Operations managers in integrating psychometric findings into the workspace. I've worked with business partners experiencing conflict, women in science pushing for recognition, young mothers returning to work, and quarter-lifers transitioning out of unsuitable careers.
I am engaging, welcome the challenge of the 'elephants in the room,' and believe humour is beneficial.
I am registered with HPCSA, SIOPSA, and Comensa.
