Description
Mental Health @Work Interest Group presents...
Relooking at Trauma
Burnout and Resilience at workÂ
This three-hour interactive masterclass critically re-examines how practitioners understand and respond to mental health, psychological distress, and performance at work. Integrating Egan's Skilled Helper Framework with the Job Demands–Resources (JD-R) Model, the workshop challenges the narrative of individual resilience and shifts focus from "What is wrong with the employee?" to "What is happening within the work environment?" Through realistic South African workplace scenarios and an integrated public healthcare case study ("Thandi"), participants explore how to recognise distress, analyse demand-resource imbalances, and formulate multi-level interventions across individual, team, and organisational levels.
